These reduced shank bolts are TRUE TITANIUM(TM), specifically Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V). Grade 5 titanium is a common aerospace alloy that has been used in commercial aircraft for decades. The bolts have a dimple in the top of the head that designates high strength and a built in washer under the head. The threads of this bolt are rolled (forged), which increases the strength of the threads and the shank of the bolt has been reduced to the pre-roll thread diameter to reduce the cost of manufacturing. If you want a lower cost bolt than our normal Grade 5 bolts with the same functional tensile strength, this is it.
