These flat washers are TRUE TITANIUM(TM), specifically Grade 5 STA (Ti-6Al-4V) with a minimum tensile strength of 160,000 PSI. Grade 5 titanium is a common aerospace alloy that has been used in commercial aircraft for decades and it has only been recently that Grade 5 STA titanium has become affordable to the average person. These washers come with full material mechanical and chemical certs and a certificate of conformance (CoC) to ensure that the design matches the UPD Sheet.
Flat washers are designed to spread the pressure of a bolt or screw under the head. If the washer starts corroding, then the washer fails and the head of the fastener starts to dip into whatever is under it. You have probably seen this. A bigger problem occurs when washer actually cracks due to corrosion and then comes completely loose.
Our titanium flat washers are corrosion free, so the problems mentioned above go away with Grade 5 titanium, even in saltwater.
